Architects Alex Hill and Christopher Harvey-Wood established Hill Harvey-Wood in 2020 after successful careers at David Chipperfield Architects, where they designed and delivered buildings of the highest quality.

Hill Harvey-Wood is founded on the belief that architecture should enrich everyday life, yet too often falls short. The studio focuses on creating generous, well-crafted, and contextual spaces, providing practical solutions that respond intelligently to their setting and the people within them.

Both studio leads explored architecture early. Christopher’s interest began in Guernsey as a teenager, assisting at a firm surveying and repairing historic buildings such as Victor Hugo’s Hauteville House. Alex’s creative journey started with drawing Castlefield Docks, leading to studies in engineering and exhibiting at the Royal Academy. Together, their artistic vision and technical expertise brings creativity and real-world skill to every project.

Listening is central to our ethos, grounding our approach in an understanding of the needs of clients and communities. The studio’s projects often come through referrals, reflecting trust, and blend the rigour of an international practice with a personal service valued by clients and partners alike.

The studio offers a comprehensive range of services including surveys, site appraisals, design consultancy, all RIBA stages, interior and landscape design, statutory applications, tendering, and on-site delivery.

Working across all sectors and scales – from homes to cultural developments – we combine design insight with technical and construction expertise to deliver sound architecture, on time and on budget.
